United Healthcare Plans We Accept
UnitedHealthcare is one of the largest insurance carriers in the United States. We are credentialed in-network with the following UHC plan types in Florida.
UnitedHealthcare Choice
A primary UHC network plan offering in-network coverage with predictable copays. One of the most common employer-sponsored UHC plans in South Florida.
UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus
Choice Plus offers the same in-network benefits as Choice with the added flexibility to see out-of-network providers at a higher cost-share โ without a referral.
UHC Navigate / Navigate Plus
Tiered network plans designed to guide members toward high-value providers. Healing Arts & Wellness participates as an in-network provider under Navigate plans.
UHC Charter / Core
Employer-sponsored UHC plans offered to mid-size and large employer groups. Core and Charter plans include standard behavioral health benefits with in-network therapist access.
UHC Community Plan
UHC's Medicaid managed care plan. Community Plan covers mental health therapy for eligible Florida Medicaid members. Contact us to verify your Community Plan eligibility.
Self-Pay โ $100/Session
No UHC coverage or prefer to pay privately? Our self-pay rate is $100 per session. No referral, no prior authorization โ same-week appointments often available.
Mental Health Parity Law โ What It Means for You
Federal law requires United Healthcare to cover mental health services at the same level as physical health services. Here is how this protects you.
โ๏ธ The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA)
The MHPAEA requires that your United Healthcare plan cover mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services on par with medical and surgical benefits. This means UHC cannot impose more restrictive deductibles, copays, session limits, or prior authorization requirements for mental health services than it applies to comparable physical health services. If your UHC plan covers 30 visits per year for physical therapy, it must cover at least as many visits for outpatient psychotherapy.
UHC Cannot Impose
Higher session limits, separate deductibles for mental health only, or stricter prior authorization rules than applied to medical visits.
You Are Entitled To
Equal treatment of mental health claims, appeals rights if coverage is denied, and an external review of any adverse determination.
If UHC Denies Coverage
You have the right to file an appeal. We can provide clinical documentation to support your appeal if needed. Call us for guidance.
UHC Telehealth Mental Health Coverage
United Healthcare covers telehealth mental health sessions at parity with in-person visits for most plan types. Here is what you need to know.
๐ป UHC Virtual Visits โ Behavioral Health
UHC covers video-based therapy sessions with in-network licensed therapists. Virtual visits for mental health are processed under the same benefit as in-person outpatient psychotherapy โ same copay, same deductible application, same session limits. You do not need a separate telehealth benefit rider for mental health.
๐ฑ How Our Telehealth Sessions Work
We use a HIPAA-compliant, end-to-end encrypted video platform. Sessions are conducted from any private location in Florida โ your home, office, or anywhere with a reliable internet connection. We bill UHC directly for telehealth sessions using the appropriate telehealth place-of-service code, so billing is handled identically to an in-person visit.
๐ Available Statewide in Florida
Our telehealth services are available to UHC members anywhere in Florida. Whether you are in West Palm Beach, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, or Tampa, you can access our licensed therapists via telehealth and bill through your UHC in-network benefits.
โก Same-Week Telehealth Appointments
Telehealth appointments are often available faster than in-person slots. If you need to speak with a therapist this week, contact us and we will prioritize getting you a same-week or next-day telehealth session with one of our UHC-credentialed clinicians.

United Healthcare Therapy FAQ
Yes โ outpatient mental health therapy (psychotherapy) is a covered benefit under virtually all UHC plans. Coverage is mandated under the Mental Health Parity Act and the Affordable Care Act. Your specific cost depends on your plan type, deductible, and copay. We verify your exact UHC coverage free of charge before your first session.
UHC mental health copays for in-network outpatient therapy typically range from $20 to $60 per session once your deductible is met. The exact amount depends on your specific plan. Some UHC plans apply coinsurance (a percentage of the cost) rather than a flat copay. We provide you with your exact cost before you schedule your first appointment.
Some UHC plans require prior authorization (PA) for outpatient mental health sessions after a certain number of visits. If your plan requires a PA, we submit it on your behalf at no cost. We check PA requirements as part of the benefits verification process and handle all insurance communication so you do not need to deal with it directly.
UHC Choice, Choice Plus, and most PPO-style plans do not require a referral for mental health services. UHC HMO-based plans and Navigate plans may require a referral or prior authorization. When we verify your benefits, we confirm whether a referral is needed and help you obtain one if required.
Yes, we accept UHC Community Plan (UHC's Florida Medicaid managed care plan) for eligible members. Florida Medicaid covers outpatient mental health therapy with no or very low cost-sharing for members. Call us to confirm your Community Plan eligibility and schedule your first session at (561) 787-9494.
