Issues Children & Teens Face Today
Growing up has never been more complex. Our therapists understand the unique pressures facing young people in South Florida today.
School Anxiety & Academic Pressure
Test anxiety, performance pressure, school refusal, and fear of failure are increasingly common. We give children practical tools to manage academic stress and restore confidence.
Peer Pressure & Bullying
Navigating friendships, social hierarchies, and bullying โ in person and online โ is one of the biggest challenges of adolescence. Therapy builds assertiveness and resilience.
Social Media & Technology
Excessive social media use, cyberbullying, FOMO, and social comparison drive anxiety and depression in teens. We help young people develop healthier digital boundaries.
Family Conflict & Divorce
Parental separation, blended family dynamics, and family conflict take a real toll on children. We provide a neutral, safe space and help improve family communication.
ADHD & Learning Differences
Attention, organization, and impulse control challenges that interfere with school performance and social relationships. We offer behavioral strategies and school coordination.
Low Self-Esteem & Identity
Adolescence is a critical period for identity formation. Therapy helps teens build authentic self-worth, understand their emotions, and navigate growing up with confidence.
Eating Concerns
Body image struggles and disordered eating patterns emerge most often in the teen years. We provide compassionate, non-stigmatizing support using evidence-based approaches.

How to Talk to Your Child About Therapy
Many parents worry that suggesting therapy will upset or stigmatize their child. In our experience, most children and teens respond positively when the conversation is framed with care. Here's what works.
Normalize It
Frame therapy as a place to talk about feelings and get tools for hard stuff โ just like you'd see a doctor for a physical problem. "Going to talk to someone who helps people sort through big feelings."
Let Them Ask Questions
Invite your child to ask questions and express concerns before the first visit. Letting them feel in control reduces resistance and builds trust in the process from the start.
What to Expect
The first session is a getting-to-know-you conversation โ no pressure, no homework, no hard questions right away. Our therapists are trained to make young clients feel safe and welcomed immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
We work with children as young as 4 years old. For very young children, therapy often involves the parent directly in sessions. Play-based approaches are developmentally appropriate starting as early as age 3โ4. There is no age too young to begin addressing emotional or behavioral concerns.
Confidentiality is a key part of what makes therapy effective for teens โ knowing their therapist won't report everything back to parents allows them to be honest. For younger children, we involve parents more directly. For all minors, we will always communicate safety concerns and provide general progress updates with your agreement on what to share.
Yes โ family sessions are a core part of child and teen therapy when appropriate. We often recommend periodic family sessions alongside individual sessions for children, as the family system plays a central role in a young person's wellbeing. Parent coaching sessions are also available separately.
Resistance is very common with teens, and pushing too hard often backfires. We recommend starting with a parent consultation โ we can advise you on specific language and approaches to introduce therapy in a way that feels empowering rather than punitive. In some cases, starting with a brief telehealth session from their bedroom lowers the barrier significantly.
